CBD is a cannabinoid that is gaining power in the market, as much in the recreational as in the medical field. While THC is the primary focus of many cannabis growers and smokers who want to experience the psychoactive effects the plant can give, CBD is proving to be a very medicinally efficient molecule and is already seen as a medicine choice for a wide variety of diseases.

Even though THC has medicinal effects, CBD seems to be more widely accepted as a practical remedy for not containing the psychoactive properties that THC is so famous for.

However, CBD is not only interesting for medical patients as it can also be used both sporadically, as every day. The health benefits are so many that it has even been put as a daily supplement that improves health in the form of very potent oil. The oil extract allows to achieve higher doses than smoking the flowers of a cannabis type with high CBD. Here are some of the most innovative facts about CBD oil:

1. CBD FIGHTES THE NEGATIVE EFFECTS OF THC

While being used as an isolated multifunctional remedy, CBD can also be used along with high-level cannabis to remove the negative effects some people experience after smoking too much marijuana. A scientific study published in the journal Frontiers in Psychiatry explains, “The few studies that exist on the effects of CBD show that this cannabinoid can neutralize some negative effects of THC, but its results are not always consistent.”

Some of the negative effects that are experienced by those who consume a lot of THC include anxiety and paranoia. Inexperience and an unknown place can increase these effects. However, CBD has shown in certain cases that it reduces the effect that induces THC anxiety by almost half.

2. THE LEVEL OF CBD DEPENDS ON THE TYPE OF CANNABIS

Along with THC, CBD is one of the most common cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. Like THC, the presence of CBD can be increased through selected reproductions, reproducing two plants with high CBD to produce a plant with higher levels of this cannabinoid. The types of cannabis with high level of CBD are generally seen as medicinal and can be smoked, or processed in oils and extracts for a greater power.

(Cannabis strains with high level of CBD include Dance World, Royal Highness, Royal Medic, Euphoria, Medical Mass and Painkiller XL)

3. CBD OIL IS EFFECTIVE AGAINST CONVULSIONS

CBD oil is turning the remedy chosen by some people who suffer from conditions that result in convulsions, especially those that have not had a response from conventional treatments. There are many witnesses to the success of CBD oil, as well as children using oil to manage seizures, and scientific studies have reinforced these claims.

A study published in the Journal of Pharmacology documents a study that introduced CBD to people who had seizures and who were still taking the anti-epileptic drugs that were no longer controlling the symptoms of the disease. During the study, 4 of 8 participants remained seizure free during the experiment, and another 3 noted an improvement in clinical condition. The author of this study concluded that CBD has potential to be used as an antiepileptic drug.

4. CBD IS NOT PSYCHOTIVE

CBD does not produce psychoactive effects when consumed, other than THC, which is responsible for the breeze caused when cannabis is carbureted and smoked. That is why CBD seems to be more tolerated in parts of the world and manages to avoid the stigma that THC and cannabis has been receiving for so long. In addition, CBD is non-toxic, does not affect physiological parameters such as heart rate, blood pressure and body temperature. High doses and used for a long time are well tolerated and believed to be safe.

5. SHOW PROMISES FOR BREAST CANCER

Cancer is a serious disease, in which conventional treatment is flawed most of the time. Even if research is in the early stages, there is hope that cannabis and the cannabinoids it produces have the potential to treat or at least manage cancer, and CBD is one of them. The US government has a website, cancer.gov, which discusses the use of medical cannabis for thousands of years. They have done animal studies that show that cannabinoids can protect against some types of tumors.

The website continues, “Canabinoids can cause anti-tumor effects in a number of ways, including cell death, inhibition of cell growth, inhibition of angiogenic tumor invasion and metastasis.”

An article in the journal Molecular Cancer Therapeutics documents a study in which CBD kills breast cancer cells in a laboratory. It is important to know that this was a study done in vitro, which means that the cells used were outside the living organism. The study authors explain, “There is an urgent need to develop new ways of treating breast cancer that has become resistant to traditional therapies. We seek to identify new agents through examinations of natural products with anti-cancer properties. We focused on the study of cannabinoid CBD that induces cytotoxicity in human cells in vitro with glioma, leukemia and breast cancer, and also inhibits the metastasis of the breast cancer cell.

The results of the study show that CBD restricts the survival of two types of breast cancer cells, estrogen receptor-positive and estrogen receptor-negative. CBD achieved these results by inducing the apoptosis process. Apoptosis is a process defined as the cell programmed to die that occurs in multicellular organisms.

6. CANABIDIOL CAN REPLACE ANTI-INFLAMMATORY AGAINST MUSCLE PAIN

An article published on April 20, 2018 in the magazine “Outside” by columnist Graham Averill is entitled “Why athletes are ditching ibuprofen for CBD”, ie “Why athletes are switching anti-inflammatory ibuprofen to CBD.” In this article the author reports the experiences of several cyclists and triathletes with the use of CBD instead of anti-inflammatory for the treatment of muscular pains caused by the microtraumas caused by intense exercise.
The reports confirm the scientific research data that prove the many benefits of CBD. The recent news is that WADA, the sport’s anti-doping control agency, excluded from January this year, the CBD’s list of banned substances for athletes to consume.

7. YOU CAN CALM THE MIND

CBD can be a great tool against anxiety and stress. In animal models, the CBD seems to reduce fights or flight reactions, and lessen the reactions of avoiding fear.

8. GOOD FOR SKIN

The CBD, along with other cannabinoids, is anti-inflammatory therefore has potential in the treatment of inflammatory skin disease known as psoriasis, according to a study published in the Journal of Dermatological Science.

9. COMBATING SOCIAL ANXIETY

CBD has been shown to reduce generalized social anxiety and this has been proven in an experiment involving public speaking.

10. CBD IS ANTIOXIDANT

CBD contains antioxidant properties and has been shown to have the ability to
